Junior & Intermediate Hockey

IMPORTANT DATES 2025

• Registrations Open: 17^th February 2025
• Registrations close: 22^nd March 2025
• Team Allocation: by 29^th March 2025
• Pre-season coaches, managers, parents meeting: 8^th April 2025
• Training begins: this is up to the team coach/manager who will communicate this with each team directly.
• Primary Winter Season Starts: 9^th May 2025
• Primary no play dates: 30th May 2025 (King’s Birthday), 20th June 2025 (Matariki), 4th, 11th & 18th July 2025 (School Holidays)
• Primary Winter Season Ends: 29^th August 2025
• Intermediate Winter Season Starts: 2^nd May 2025
• Intermediate no play dates: 30th May 2025 (King’s Birthday), 20th June 2025 (Matariki), 4th & 11th July 2025 (School Holidays)
• Intermediate Winter Season Ends: 29^th August 2025
• Prizegiving: 14^th September 2025

Hautapu Sports Club offers hockey for two age groups — primary (years 3-6) and intermediate (years 7-8).

Primary hockey

For players in years 3-6, we will enter teams representing Hautapu Sports Club into the Cambridge Mini Hockey module.

Games are played on Friday afternoons and evenings at the St Peters Private School Hockey Turf, 1716 Cambridge Road, Cambridge.

All children from Year 3 to Year 6 are eligible to play. Teams play in two grades, one for Year 3/4 teams and one for Year 5/6 teams.

All teams will be mixed and split between the two years groups in their grade. We try to keep school groups together as much as possible.

The season generally consists of 13 playing weeks with the season starting in May and ending in August. 

Games are not played on May 31 (King’s Birthday), June 28 (Matariki) and July 12 and 19 (Term 2 holidays).

Intermediate hockey

We will enter teams representing Hautapu Sports Club into the Waikato Hockey Association Intermediate competition (Year 7/8).

Games are played on Friday afternoons and evenings at various locations around Hamilton.

All players, from Years 7 and 8 are eligible to play. Teams play half-field, 6-a-side games. Some teams play 6-a-side without a goalie, and some play 6-a-side plus a goalie.

The season generally consists of 13 playing weeks with the season startingin May and ending in August. 

Games are not played on are May 31 (King’s Birthday), June 28 (Matariki) and July 12 and 19 (Term 2
holidays).
